The Start of Coluzzi Kicking

In a span of two months, former Iowa punter Ron Coluzzi and his longtime friend and business partner Joe Nalefski have hit the ground running with their company, Coluzzi Kicking. Coluzzi Kicking strives to bring out the best in young kickers and punters by offering them the resources to perfect every aspect of the kicking game and potentially play at the next level. Together, Coluzzi and Nalefski aim to treat athletes as ‘More Than Just a Number”.

Born and raised in Naperville, Illinois, Coluzzi grew up with the dream to be a kicker in the NFL. At Naperville North High School, Coluzzi won all-state honors and received offers from multiple schools for placekicking and punting, and eventually committed to Central Michigan. While at CMU, he was named their Special Teams Player of the Year for 2014. He maintained the same role the next season before graduating and transferring to the University of Iowa. Following his fifth year senior season in which he earned All-Big Ten third team honors, Coluzzi knew coaching and helping young kickers and punters was what he wanted to do.

“I’ve always wanted to be close to the game,” said Coluzzi. “I knew my kicking career was going to be over at some point and coaching is something I am extremely passionate about.”

But, Ron is only half of the equation. Joe Nalefski helps athletes with everything off-the-field, from producing videos to helping the athletes market themselves to college coaches.

Nalefski has been working in the media industry for over seven years now. The experience he has gained over the years has given him the ability to assist athletes in marketing themselves. Nalefski has worked for the Chicago Steel (USHL), Eastern Illinois University (NCAA) and the Des Moines Menace (PDL), in the areas of media relations and photography.

“Whether you want a progression video from camps and private lessons or photos and videos from your middle or high school games, the athlete marketing team here will take care of you,” said Nalefski.

Lessons

“Coluzzi Kicking is working on providing a staff around the country that has a coach within every state,” said Coluzzi. “This insures our athletes have access to hands-on training no matter where they live.”

Film analysis of each lesson will be given to the athlete. Athletes have the option of purchasing a progression video, which highlights development of the fundamentals and showcases their current performance on the field.

Camps

Coluzzi Kicking offers kicking camps that provide instruction from Coluzzi and other former college kickers and punters in multiple locations across the Midwest. With multiple experts on hand, each athlete will receive individual attention. With the purchase of the camp, each athlete receives a film analysis of their kicking performance that day.

This is the typical schedule of how the camps will work,
